Job Description:

The Music Program within Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design Department seeks a part-time instructor to teach applied lessons in jazz drum set and jazz guitar.

The candidate should possess demonstrated pedagogical ability, mastery of course content, strong attention to detail, and the ability to relate well in a one-on-one in-person environment with college-level students. This position will begin in the Fall 2023 semester.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach 12 applied lessons in jazz drum set per semester.

Be present and instruct weekly lessons during the fall and spring semesters. All instruction will take place on the RVCC campus.

Establish a lessons schedule.

Prepare students for performances and juries.

Support student performances at major jazz & commercial music events where possible.

Build a positive rapport with students and faculty.


Requirements:

Experience in playing jazz drum set at a professional level.

Expertise in teaching jazz drum set performance.

Master's degree in music required. Professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an earned degree.

Ability to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
