Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College strives to prepare students for the challenges of the ever-changing global community. The Department of Math & Computer Science at Raritan Valley Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Statistics for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Essential Duties:

Teach a variety of credit and developmental math courses as assigned, with a focus on Statistics and Data Science.

Incorporate R-Programming into Statistics and Data Science courses.

Teach courses using all modalities and at a variety of times in response to institutional and student needs.

Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction through regular assessment and the utilization of innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.

Assess courses and programs following departmental and college-wide guidelines.

Work with the K-12 Partnerships office to develop pathways to college for local high school students.

Participate in student advising, and provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.

Work collaboratively in a diverse learning institution while actively engaging in initiatives to close the equity gap and remove barriers to success; promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.

Regularly evaluate courses to ensure that learning outcomes and assessments are appropriate and effective.

Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.

Pursue trainings, certifications, and other professional development opportunities to stay current in the mathematics field and relevant pedagogical advancements.

Participate in college/departmental professional development activities.

Serve on departmental and College-wide committees.

Assist with departmental strategic planning and outcomes assessment.

Develop and use a syllabus for each course within college and department guidelines.

Review, evaluate, redesign, and recommend student learning materials as needed.

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.

Adhere to College policies and procedures.


Requirements:

A minimum of a Master's degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Mathematics/Statistics Education is required. Will consider Master's degrees in certain mathematics-related disciplines such as Computer Science.

Minimum of two years teaching experience.

Ability to teach a wide range of courses from Elementary Algebra through Statistics.

Proficiency in R-Programming; experience teaching Statistics with R-Programming preferred.

Demonstrated professional development related to mathematics and/or pedagogy.

Ability to teach day and evening classes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in postsecondary developmental education.

Experience using technology in the delivery of course content.

Online and/or Hybrid teaching experience.

Prior Community College teaching experience.
