Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design Department is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Audio Production during the Spring 2024 semester and beyond.

Essential Duties:

The Arts 113 - Audio Production course is a studio arts course focusing on the recording, editing, mixing and production of audio files for use in a variety of applications, such as video games, film and environmental soundscape. The course is a requirement or elective for a broad selection of creative program disciplines.

The applicant should have an understanding of an audio file based DAW, such as Reaper 64, Pro Tools or similar environment. The lab is currently equipped with PCs running Reaper 64. The course is not a music creation or production specific course though some processes taught can be used in the creation or production of music. The focus is on a more general use of sound as a creative and applied medium. The recording, processing and editing of voice and environmental sound is part of project completion. The instructor should also be able to teach the properties and physics of sound on a fundamental level.


Requirements:

A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in a related field (or equivalent professional experience) is required.

Minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience with a record of effective instruction and student engagement.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively connect with a diverse student population.
