Overview

The Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for supporting the Office of Admission in identifying, attracting, and enrolling an academically talented and diverse student body. The position includes management of a strategic recruitment plan, extensive recruitment travel, interviewing, the review of applicants, establishing and maintaining relationships with schools and counselors, and representing Lawrenceville in professional organizations that support recruitment goals. The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission will act as the School's representative for all aspects of the admissions operation, both on and off-campus in their work. This position will require weekend and evening work based on the academic calendar, and it is a staff position.

This position is a staff position with no housing or coaching responsibilities. Therefore, housing is not provided.

Responsibilities
    Represent the School at school visits, fairs, on and off-campus events and other recruiting activities.
  • Conduct interviews, both on and off-campus and online.
  • Serve as an evaluator of applicants in either specific geographic/gender/residential status categories during the selection process, and as a member of the full admissions committee.
  • Represent the School to prospective students, counselors, parents, alumni and other groups.
  • Manage one or more recruitment territories.
  • Help provide leadership and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Manage one or more programs or activities in the office, as determined by the Dean of Enrollment Management.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of three years' admission or related experience in an independent/boarding school or
    college.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a teamwork setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and collaborative skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required, as is evening and weekend work and occasional light physical activity.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and function well as part of a collaborative team. Must work well both independently and with colleagues.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written - necessary to communicate with both internal departments and external vendors.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs, and an enthusiasm toward new assignments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions, and maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including in stressful situations.
