Marcum LLP is seeking an Estate Gift and Trust Tax Director to join our growing and well-established national firm.

The position requires a high-energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills. Responsibilities

  • Conduct Post-mortem planning, including use of disclaimers, redemption of shares of closely-held businesses, and allocation of generation-skipping transfer tax exemption.
  • Work with attorneys, executors and beneficiaries to minimize estate tax and income tax.
  • Develop and design of estate plans to reduce estate and/or gift tax and maximize family wealth.
  • Develop family gift giving programs and preparation of applicable federal and state gift tax returns.
  • Create and implement business succession plans.
  • Create strategies for utilization of inter-vivos trusts in the estate planning process.
  • Design and implement charitable giving strategies to minimize estate, gift and income tax.
  • Plan for Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and qualified plan distributions to maximize family wealth and minimize taxes.
  • Assist clients in identifying long-term care needs and implementing solutions.
  • Review judicial and non-judicial fiduciary accountings for trusts and estates.
  • Review federal estate tax returns and applicable state inheritance/estate tax returns.
  • Review Federal and State gift tax returns.
  • Review Federal and State fiduciary income tax returns including income tax planning to minimize taxes.
  • Review Federal and State Charitable Trust Information returns
  • Ability to review individual tax returns a definite plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Accounting required
  • Master's in taxation degree a plus
  • 10+ years' experience in a similar role
  • 5+ years' supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior experience managing engagements and clients
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others
  • Takes a lead role in client and team meetings and contributes new ideas and strategic initiatives
  • Stays current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impacts on their client engagements
