Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director, Quality amp; Safety, the Quality amp; Safety Senior Specialist will originate, facilitate, amp; expedite improvement efforts and/or education targeted at quality, safety, HRO initiatives and process improvement activities consistent with departmental/organizational goals and objectives.

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Utilizes and Supports the implementation of the OnPoint Safety Management System project management standards, processes, policies, methodologies and tools to:
    • Conduct divisional reactive safety work (aca, dca, cRCA) and proactive risk assessments (ie FMECA, Hazop analysis)
    • Facilitates processes and applies safety science principles to identify, review, investigate and analyze, and manage safety events and near misses/great catches.
    • Oversee SMS related project communication strategies, including verbal and written materials.
    • Develop and track SMS and related process improvement quality assurance, performance, and usage metrics and prepares printed and electronic reports for communication of the data as part of the project status reporting.
  • Champions (Lead/Support/provides consultation on) identified initiatives/projects critical to patient safety and quality improvement organizational goals to embed safety principles into clinical operations, facilitated by teams/work groups, assigning performance indicators, reviewing metrics and developing action plans using departmental tools to meet safety/quality system/process redesign and pay for performance goals.
  • Guides/coaches/mentors to enable others to begin to champion organizational projects.
    • Utilizes project management, performance improvement, change management, change leadership knowledge, skills, and attitudes to drive improvement efforts in quality and safety.
  • Utilizes the hospital and/or department software systems and applications to input/retrieve/analyze data appropriate to the overall functioning of the organization. Regularly presents to share insights developed from data and information analysis.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Intermediate level understanding of system safety principles
  • Independently Able to Conduct thorough and credible SSE Evaluation (ACA, DCA, cRCA)
  • Independently Able to conduct a PRA (Functional Block Diagram (FBD), Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) )
  • Basic understanding of simulation and debriefing simulations - principles and practices.
  • Leads division Scorecard QI initiative with assistance
  • Basic Lean Six Sigma knowledge amp; skills
  • Assist with Workout Facilitation
  • Basic understanding of primary transparency and P4P programs (CMS VBP, HRRP, HACRP, Leapfrog, US News World Report and strategies to drive improvement
  • Developing at using tools for data analysis (OnPoint Insights/QLIK, Vizient, OnPoint Reporting and Feedback
  • Independently leads and executes house wide Scorecard QI or QAPI initiatives
  • Proficient at Data Analytics (run chart creation, basic excel functions)
  • Proficient at Basic PM Skills (charter, gannt chart, process mapping)
  • Ability to lead teams through a project life cycle

  • Bachelorrsquo;s degree required. Registered Nurse required.Masters degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years clinical experience in an acute care facility.

  • Ability to read and communicate in the English language.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an acute project / management role that requires a high degree of autonomy for success.
