Job Summary and Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

The Installation Site Leader, SIL, will provide on-site problem solving and day-to-day direction. The SIL will be responsible for the successful and timely completion of all milestones and will promote safety, quality, cost, and delivery in all customer technical spaces, including, but not limited to communications structures, roof-tops, data centers, mobile telephone switch centers, central office wire centers, designated enterprise spaces, and in the public way. The SIL is required to take excellent care of our customers, build relationships, question things and take action, work hard, work smart, and enjoy the experience.

SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Adhere to, promote, and accept personal responsibility for compliance to:
  • Federal and Local Occupational Safety and Health Regulations
  • Industry Consensus Standards
  • KGP Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual
  • Participate in job site safety/hazard analysis when necessary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned:

  • Offer solutions to problems; Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.
    • Read, analyze, and interpret detailed specifications and drawings, blueprints, schematics, and method of procedures (MOPs)
    • Perform quality validation on in-process and completed work.
    • Complete operations paperwork (e.g., expense reports, timesheets, job documentation, etc.) including daily job status reports as requested.
    • Physically place, remove, or modify working and non-working equipment including the following:
    • Data equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, firewalls.
    • Identify, label, measure, terminate and physically route the cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.
    • Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.
    • Train new installers on performing installation-based tasks.
    • Conduct testing and document performance characteristics of hardware and software; determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.
    • Oversee the work of less experienced installers; assume responsibility for the successful completion of projects.
    • Act as a customer contact; interface with customers and local supervisors regarding project status and staff scheduling (sick day, PTO, etc.).
    • Interact with all members of the organization including Installation, Engineering, Project Management
    • Assist with communication between management and local staff
    • Assist with collection of weekly timesheets.
    • Assist in determining labor requirements and the scheduling of activities
    • Assists in developing procedures that reduce:
      • Overproduction - more than customer needs or is willing to pay for (qty)
      • Deviations from standards and/or regulations
      • Transportation of things - either physical or electronic
      • Downtime or waiting due to upstream process
      • Inventory or human resources on hand
      • Motion - worksite set up
      • Processing - producing higher quality than required
      • Under-utilized talent
    • Inspect, maintain compliance, and complete records associated with crew activities as required (building and safety codes, customer deliverables, equipment, and tool inspections, etc).
    • Identify training needs and assist in the development plans of technicians.
    • Liaise to Project Management regarding progress and delays
    • Assist with estimates, materials, and purchase orders
    • Assist in ensuring that financial expectations are met
    • Identify and provide actionable data and trend analysis to Operations Management related to
      • Risks to the integrity of the Safety Management System as defined in HS-P-7000 and HS-P-7004
      • Risks to customer relationships. Violations of published customer requirements
      • Risks to the integrity of the Quality Management System as defined in SM-P-6100

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Proven progressive leadership experience in a service-related industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft programs and applications
  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Regularly walk and perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50+ pounds. Carry objects weighing up to 49 pounds for short distances.
  • Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration
  • Distinguish between colors

TRAVEL

  • Willing and able to travel across regions to support multiple programs
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to transport minor job-related tools and minor equipment to work locations.
