What You'll Get to Do:
Responsible for undertaking and executing day to day tasks relating to assigning Harmonized Tariff Numbers, Schedule Bs, ECCNs and identifying other data requirements for products in conjunction with Customs import and export regulations. Data includes but is not limited to CVD, ADD, Section 301, 232 or other HS codes, Other Government Agency regulations, licenses, permits, etc. Impact of improperly classifying goods can have impact of millions of dollars of duties, either overpayments or short payments. These tasks must be executed with a high level of technical ability to avoid financial impact.
Classification Related
Expected to execute defined SOPs to classify products and maintain product dictionary, ensuring that all items have accurate product descriptions, appropriate tariff classifications, Schedule Bs, ECCNs and preferential treatment based on regulatory requirements with some assistance from Management.
Processes and classifies goods on import entries and export shipments - including but not limited to
Execution of accurate classification to support timely and accurate entry and exports
Request required information including but not limited to information on products, specifications, questions to determine proper classification as well as country of origin.
Identify PGA and other requirements and obtain and maintain required information in system of record including but not limited to FDA, FCC, EPA / TSCA, DOT and other as required.
Identify Section 301, 232 or other additional HS codes as needed.
Identify and obtain review and records of goods requiring review for CVD and ADD
Maintain records of information received to support classification at product master level and entry level as needed.
Review and respond to activities and instructions around the classification review and audit processes.
Review classifications, import and export, and other related data when required and understand impact of changes, duty and regulatory
Where discrepancies occur - communicate required changes to management team and PNA Trade Compliance to support entry corrections
Maintain records of information supporting changes and classification to support classification at product master level and entry level as needed.
Process Improvement
Support development and maintenance of end to end classification and product dictionary maintenance process flows and process documents as it relates to activities performed.
Ability to identify improvement opportunities in existing processes to improve productivity and quality of work.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects.
What You'll Bring:
Education and Experience
Candidates for this position should possess an undergraduate degree in supply chain logistics or distribution, finance, accounting, international business or a similar field of study or possess a minimum of 6 years practical experience in handling customs and international trade related issues; product classification, qualification of goods for free trade agreements OR equivalent experience. A current customs broker's license is desired but not required. A Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) is preferred.
Intermediate knowledge and experience in import processes, customs brokerage functions and international logistics process required.
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of the Harmonized Tariff System in order to properly classify products and review duty-free opportunities on imported goods.
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of Export Administration requirements (ECCN) rules and regulations to classify goods for export and identify license requirements and license exception codes.
Ability to process compliant and timely Customs Entries
Knowledge and understanding of duty drawback, duty deferment schemas and import tax refund processes pursuant to government regulations and company policy.
Advanced communication skills both written and spoken.
Ability to interact with others in a professional manner.
Ability to operate a computer, perform tasks in MS Office applications, develop and present reports and charts in Excel as needed.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple activities involving numerous details.
Ability to work on assignments that are moderately complex requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations to import and export and customs compliance team.
Candidates for this position should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be self motivated and be capable of working as part of a team or alone.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Power Point, and Power BI along with a well developed ability to read, write, and speak English.

Federal Background Check and Fingerprinting Required
Ability to work overtime on an as-needed basis and an ability to travel up to 5 percent domestic or overseas as needed.
Scope
Job responsibilities are carried out in a work environment that consists of both recurring and non-recurring work situations. Job involves a high degree of detail and complexity. Job tasks will be performed under moderate supervision.
Problem-Solving
Decisions are made within prescribed company policy guidelines and constraints; however, independent judgment is often needed in identifying and resolving discrepancies. Errors can cause delays in delivery of goods or result in CBP penalties. Excessive errors may ultimately affect Panasonic's import / export process and result in a higher risk designation by CBP and thereby increase the company's exposure to penalties, exams, or audits. This will involve meeting necessary deadlines on a regular basis to comply with Customs regulations.
Communications
Contacts occur with others inside of Panasonic as well as with third party warehouse staff, CBP officers, third party service providers, and government officials. Contact will so involve working with Internal IT and outside software vendor when problems with software occur and need to be resolved.
