The Senior Bio-Med Tech provides medical equipment services under close supervision of BSI management. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing preventive maintenance inspections, installation support, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on highly complex and intricate medical equipment independent of technical supervision. This individual shall be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of the duties. The individual may serve as a technical advisor to clinical staff in safe operation and use of clinical equipment. This individual contributes to department improvement and development by mentoring other Biomed Techs (I, II & III).This individual builds and maintains positive relationships with customers. The Biomed Tech is the front line employee who is most visible to clinical staff utilizing the patient care equipment included in the Medical Equipment Management Program. At the clinical level, this individual will create the impression carried by the facility clinical staff.

Performs preventive maintenance inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operation verification procedures on highly complex and intricate biomedical equipment.
Supervises and performs repair, support install, and calibrate highly complex and intricate biomedical equipment.
Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns.
Supervises and performs Incoming Inspections to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition to permanently assigned equipment inventory.
Responsible for ensuring all service documentation is complete, accurate and timely entered into the BSI work order management system.
Supervises and documents activities of sub-contractors, vendors and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery.
Performs periodic inspections of current inventory status.
Maintains biomedical expertise by attending ongoing training/education/in-service by assigned supervisor and/or OEM.
Provides alternate solution to supervisor for critical and complex issues. Assists in decision making prior to implementation.
Provides mentoring and guidance to Biomed tech (I, II and III), as applicable under the direction of Regional Manager.
Responsible for supervision of day-to-day operations of department in absence of Regional/Account manager.
Adheres to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures.
Leads special projects as assigned.
Exhibits positive and proactive customer service skills.
Serves as a technical advisor to the clinical staff for the safe operation and proper use of medical equipment.

Education and Work Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline plus 2 years’ experience OR Associate’s degree plus 5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
2. High degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity.
3. Must exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
4. Strong written and verbal communications skills.
5. Strong planning and organization, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
6. Strong computer skills (MS Office, CMMS systems).
7. Knowledge of TJC, DNV, HFAP, CAP, NFPA, CMS, HIPAA and other applicable standards and regulations required.
8. Knowledge of principles and practices of electronics and biomedical engineering technology as applied to the calibration and repair of biomedical equipment.
9. Ability to troubleshoot, read schematics and/or blue prints.
10. Valid driver’s license required.
11. Current DMV H6 report or Driving History Report
12. Field related technical certification (A+, CBET, CRES, CLES or CCE) preferred.
